Attorney at Law, dr hab. Marlena Jankowska Augustyn, Prof. of University of Silesia

Doctor Habilitatus of law; attorney at law; university professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice and Director of the Centre for Design, Fashion and Advertisement Law at the same university (lawinstyle.us.edu.pl); professor at the Institute of Law Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences; she organises research projects on the issues of intellectual property law, fashion law, technology and geoinformation in the information society as part of her work at the Ius Publicum, Polish Foundation for the Competition Law and Sectoral Regulation in Warsaw; president of the Institute of Intellectual Property (IIP) foundation in Katowice (iip.edu.pl). In 2016 she was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the government of Australia and conducted the project on copyright to digital maps at the University of Technology Sydney (Endeavour Research Fellowship, November 2016 – March 2017); beneficiary of the scholarship of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for prominent young scholars. From July 2017 to July 2020 – Visiting Research Fellow at the Chinese-German Institute for Intellectual Property at Huazhong University of Science and Technology/ HUST (China). From June 2018 to June 2019 – member of the European Commission Expert Group dealing with liability for new technologies. From 2019 – member of the Copyright Commission at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. She conducted academic research in many prestigious scientific centres, such as Max Planck Institute in Munich, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, UCLA or Columbia University in the USA. Laureate of the Excellence in Legal Research competition organised by the Polish Academy of Sciences. Promoting Polish achievements in the area of legal sciences abroad as part of the Dialog project in relation to which she is working on the publication in English about copyright protection of fashion in Poland in comparison to legal regulations in Europe and the United States. Author of more than 100 publications and many lectures given abroad, e.g. at: University of Pennsylvania, University of Hong Kong and University of Melbourne.
